LSU Gymnastics Head Coach Jay Clark talked to the media before the team’s first practice of the season today.
Coach Clark said the team is mentally tough and is at the height of their motivation for the season. He expects the girls to uphold a high standard while still challenging themselves to grow.
He also expects the girls to step up and fill the leadership roles of seniors that the team lost after last season.
According to Coach Clark, the team is highly competitive at all events, but it’s weakest area is the uneven bars. With new graduate student transfer Cammy Hall, Coach Clark said he thinks the vault will be a strong suit for the team this year.
Coach Clark also said the team is healthy, as of today’s practice, including himself, which is a huge step up from last year. He considers this season as a reset and feels good about the momentum the team has built so far.
