After a dominant defensive game played against Arkansas last Saturday, defensive end Ali Gaye shares his thoughts on this season so far.
“I am proud of the success we’ve built” Gaye says.
Being a senior he has seen this team triumph and fall and is glad to see the LSU Tigers become what he expected to be around as the purple and gold.
But after the win the players made sure to let us know that they are focused on this week and this week only. They don’t want to keep riding on the wins and keeping the mindset to last week.
“Last week was last week.” Gaye says.
While also making sure to give Head Coach Brian Kelly credit where credit is due.
“You can see what Coach Kelly and his staff has done, everything he’s trying to instill in us. You all have seen it on TV. A winning culture.”
And after a good season leading up to the SEC championship Gaye expresses how he feels playing his last game in Tiger stadium.
“My last few games as an LSU Tigers, its been special, being alongside great players and coaches. This game being the cherry on top.” Gaye says.
Ali Gaye will have many family members at the senior game including his mom, dad, aunt and brother and sister-in-law.
Coach Kelly made sure to give high praise to tight end Mason Taylor right out of fall camp and Taylor has made his mark on this team. Coming right out of high school Taylor expresses how its been so far.
“I have learned a lot since I’ve been here I definitely came a long way.” Taylor says.
This LSU Football team has many true freshman talent to offer from 2 offensive lineman to a game changing linebacker. So it was no surprise when the game winning 2 point conversion against Alabama was caught by yet another true freshman Mason Taylor.
But the players made sure they didn’t focus on past games and that includes Taylors catch to win it against Alabama.
“Stay calm and focus, Coach Kelly says what’s important now and were focused on UAB.” Taylor says.
Taylor admires what Coach Kelly says about him. “I’m getting rewarded for the work I’m putting in.”
Mason Taylor will get to display his talent yet again Saturday November 19th against the University of Alabama Birmingham.
Miles Frazier has had a complicated season to say the least. Playing 3 different positions on the Offensive Line has proved him to be a vital part to keep them balanced.
Frazier also gives insight on how in his position meetings they are given quizzes and must know what each positions job is on the O-line.
There was a big emphasis on trusting the process. He explains how he wasn’t highly recruited out of high school and that his whole journey has been about trusting the process.
“I’m not gonna lie at first I didn’t really trust it.” Frazier admits.
But Frazier stuck to the plan and it has been working out since.
After a struggling Offensive line game against Arkansas Jayden Daniels got sacked more times than he would have liked. Frazier is honest with how it was preparing for the game.
“Last week we got a little separated form the process, a different feel, we didn’t practice as well.” Frazier says.
Frazier explains how his relationship with Daniels is well on and off the field.
“Our relationship off the field helps us on the field.” Frazier says.
Frazier will display the great O-line to Quarterback relationship on Saturday November 19th for their last game in Death Valley.
Senior Linebacker Micah Baskerville has grown this season on and off the field. From getting better grades at school to becoming a leader in the lockers room. Coach Kelly made sure to give his praise to him during his press conference earlier this week.
Baskerville also has made his mark this season on the defensive side of the ball.
“Whatever we got to do to get the ball.” Baskerville says.
