Reigning national champion Kim Mulkey agreed to the terms of a 10-year contract with LSU women’s basketball worth $32 million.
After finishing 34-2 in her second year as head coach, LSU wants to ensure the Mulkey era will last.
With last year’s success and her previous three titles with Baylor, the unofficial Queen of Sparkles has proven her worth.
The deal is still awaiting approval from LSU’s board of supervisors, but when finalized it will make Mulkey the highest paid women’s college basketball coach in history.
In other news, LSU football will make their home debut on Saturday against the Grambling State Tigers after a devastating loss in the season opener rematch against Florida State.
Standout defensive tackle Maason Smith will finally be back after an injury last season and his suspension for improper benefit in this year’s game against the Seminoles.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels spoke to the media yesterday regarding the key pitfalls of the LSU offense in their season debut: their inability to convert on third downs and keeping momentum in the red zone.
Daniels told media the team will make adjustments as needed going into Saturday’s matchup. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
