Jayden Daniels spoke to media for one last time before the Heisman ceremony this evening about how his experience in New York, how he is feeling about the ceremony and his future.
When asked about his thought process before the ceremony and if there were any nerves, Daniels appeared calm, cool and collected. He emphasized that his mindset is only to worry about things he can control.
“I think probably when the whole ceremony starts it’ll sink in,” Daniels said. “But right now I’m just chilling honestly.”
Daniels also mentioned his faith multiple times and pointed to it as the reason for his attitude about the night.
“I put all my worries on God and Jesus Christ,” Daniels said when asked how he stays grounded. “I stay in the Word. I just know that I can’t control everything but I can control what I can control.”
With so many people here to support him, Daniels said his grandparents who passed away last year are on his mind the most.
“My grandpa probably would’ve called me bragging and asking me about it,” Daniels said. “The whole weekend I’ve been thinking about it, hoping they were here, but I know they’re watching me.”
With less than an hour until the Heisman Trophy ceremony, the anticipation grows for Daniels and everyone pulling for him to win.
