“It means a lot,” Johnson said. “It doesn’t go just beyond this year, it goes for the five years that we’ve been here. Especially my class. We’ve been through a lot. To do it in New Orleans on the same day, wearing the same leos just revamped means so much.”
With the meet being held in New Orleans, LSU took on the rotation order of the home team, meaning they competed on the floor last. Despite trailing Kentucky by .25, Johnson said her team was optimistic heading into the last rotation.
“We are super confident in our floor team,” Johnson said. “We have, I think, proved ourselves week in and week out so there’s no reason for us not to be confident…We just wanted to have a floor party.”
Bryant also mentioned her confidence in the floor team and how much they stepped up when it mattered most.
“We are very very confident on floor,” Bryant said. “We put in the numbers in the gym, obviously our ranking shows how hard we work and how confident we are in that event. We went to that event and we knew what we were about to do out there.”
The team’s season does not stop here, however. The Tigers are now on track to prepare for regionals. Bryant mentioned the team still has improvements to make in the gym ahead of their next challenge.
“We’re not done yet,” Bryant said. “We’re going to keep going, get back in the gym and the sky’s the limit.”
