The No. 6 LSU Softball team swept the No. 11 Texas A&M Aggies after a close 2-1 win on Thursday and two explosive 5-1 and 9-3 performances on Friday and Saturday.
The Aggies lead 3-0 early in the series closer, but it was all Purple and Gold after the second inning.
The Tigers scored two runs in the third and opened the sixth with an RBI to tie the game.
Finally, to secure the sweep, outfielder Ali Newland launched a ball to center field, hitting her second grand slam of the season.
“Anytime you can sweep in the SEC is a great weekend,” Newland said. “A little bit of a slump, I think, but at the same time the whole four-game stretch we were hammering balls right at people. So we knew it was coming, none of us were surprised to be back in the win column.”
After sweeping the Aggies, the Tigers will look ahead to Tuesday as the prepare for ULM and look to carry the good vibes from March to April.
