LSU Athletics and the Tiger Athletic Foundation hosted their annual Mikey Awards on Monday, April 29 to recognize LSU athletes’ outstanding academic and athletic achievements.
LSU athletes from every sport dressed to impress and walked the Gold Carpet before entering the ceremony.
The Female Newcomer of the Year Award was presented to LSU Gymnastics freshman Konnor McClain. The Male Newcomer of the Year Award went to former LSU pitcher Paul Skenes, who helped lead the Tigers to a National Championship last season.
The winner of the Female Leadership Award was LSU Softball’s Ali Newland and the male winner was LSU Swimming and Diving senior Mitch Mason.
LSU Baseball’s Tommy White took home the Male Sports Play of the Year Award and 5th-year LSU gymnast Kiya Johnson won the Female Sports Play of the Year Award.
Heisman trophy winner and No. 2 overall NFL draft pick Jayden Daniels was named the Tiger Athletic Foundation Athlete of the Year.
The Female Athlete of the Year was none other than national champion Haleigh Bryant, who racked up many other accolades this season.
The final honor of the night, the Eye of the Tiger Award, was given to Kiya Johnson.
