LSU had their seventh practice of fall camp and second day of live tackling Saturday.
Garrett Nussmeier’s connection with his main three receivers is continuing to flourish. Chris Hilton caught a deep ball from him during the seven-on-seven drills, and Kyren Lacy caught a couple of passes as well.
The Nussmeier to CJ Daniels connection is also continuing to grow, with Nussmeier throwing him some short passes for some decent yardage.
The defense is improving, but they still are not anywhere close to championship level play. Defensive coordinator Blake Baker spoke to the media after practice and emphasized how important consistency would be on that side of the ball.
As of now, the defense has not been consistent. There have been some good moments, with Jyaire Brown snagging an interception during 11 on 11 and Harold Perkins getting a few tackles and pass breakups.
However, they have also had some low points. The wide receivers dominated the two vs. two drills and the offensive linemen got the best of Baker’s front seven in the one-on-ones.
The team will rest Sunday, but will get back to business on Monday.
