Head Coach Brian Kelly spoke with the media Thursday to discuss the Tigers matchup against Auburn Saturday. The LSU defense is preparing for Auburn’s offense both on the ground and in the air.
“We have to defend the pass, we have to defend the quarterback and the quarterback run, which puts you in a very difficult situation defensively because it is hard to do both.” Kelly said. “That is what makes this offense a really good offense.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a rib injury in Saturday’s win against Missouri. Despite this, Daniels was not on the injury report and did not miss a rep during practice this week.
“He (Daniels) said Monday ‘Coach, I don’t want you to change anything. I am good to go’,” said Kelly. “I think it sent a really good message to everybody about how there is going to be some bumps and bruises, guys are going to be sore, but you have to get through it.”
The Tigers plan to build upon their explosive offense by continuing to minimize turnovers and protect their quarterback.
“We spend a lot of time in making sure that we protect the football,” Kelly said. “Second, you have a quarterback that is wired that way. He is not loose with the football. He is going to turn down some throws.”
LSU will take on Auburn at 6 p.m. Saturday in Tiger Stadium.
