Ethan Frey hit his first career home run Tuesday against Southern. Frey, LSU’s designated hitter, went 3-for-4 at the plate, including a three-run homer in the fourth inning.
Conner Ware pitched 3.0 scoreless innings in his LSU debut, leading the second-ranked Tigers to the 13-1 victory over Southern.
Ware (1-0) earned the win, he allowed no hits, one walk and struck out two.
The game ended after the top of the seventh inning due to the 10-run rule, with LSU improving to 4-0 on the season and Southern falling to 2-2.
The Tigers racked up 14 hits, with freshman Derek Curiel adding three hits and three RBI, while junior Daniel Dickinson contributed a two-run single.
Sophomore Steven Milam had two hits, including his fourth career triple and junior Chris Stanfield also collected two hits and scored twice.
Southern’s starter, Genesis Prosper (0-1), took the loss after giving up three runs (two earned) on eight hits in 3.0 innings, with no walks and one strikeout.
LSU will next face Nicholls at 6:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
