It was a battle down the bayou as LSU Softball ended their Saturday night facing the Nicholls State Colonels.
As the game started off with the first pitch, Nicholls showed their strength with Catcher Brynne Songy and Short Stop Ally Mooneyham having great hits to make the Colonels go up 2-0, proving to the Tigers that they were not here to mess around.
However, things took a turn for the Colonels in the second inning as the Tigers managed to score four runs and six more within the third with the help of Catcher Maci Bergeron and First Baseman Tori Edwards, who hit a grand slam near the end of the third inning.
By the fourth inning, the Tigers were leading 12-2, proving to the Colonels that they are the queens of the bayou by a landslide.
Despite the effort from Nicholls, LSU continued to breeze through the night, ending the game early in the top of the fifth inning.
With the final score being 12-2, LSU Softball proceeds to have a successful weekend and hopes to carry on that mindset on Sunday as they face the Colonels again at 1:30p.m. CT.
