LSU Freshman Forward Robert Miller III had one of his best performances of the season on Saturday against the No. 2 Florida Gators.
With a double-double and his best shooting night, it was clear his confidence was there.
“I’d say mainly my coaches and my teammates just talking to me and just instilling the confidence in me to go out there and just do what I know I can do,” Miller said.
Miller says the team’s intensity in the first half was a key factor to their lead-gaining performance.
“Mainly just how the team came together and we just didn’t really care about what was going on, just went out there and turned the intensity up,” Miller said.
From shots made to rebounds grabbed, Miller’s skillset was “on full display,” McMahon said in a postgame press conference. Scoring 19 points Saturday evening with six of those points coming from behind the arc, Miller stepped up in big moments to keep the Tigers afloat.
“I feel like late in the game we were a little sloppy with the ball, I feel like we could’ve been a little stronger on turnovers and rebounding,” Miller said about what went wrong in the second half of the matchup.
Despite Miller’s 10 rebounds, the Tigers were still out-worked on the glass with 21 defensive rebounds to the Gators’ 29. Turnovers also became costly late in the second half when the Tigers couldn’t hold on to the ball, allowing Florida to walk away with their sixth straight win.
The LSU Tigers will look to bring more intensity to the PMAC on Tuesday with the Tennessee Volunteers on the clock.
The Vols are ranked No. 4 in the SEC. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
