Vintage charm and whimsical patterns have arrived in Mid City with the opening of Good Choices Co., a thrift shop home to unique and hand-selected finds.
Good Choices Co. has been a thrifter’s dream, with bubblegum pink floors, color-coded clothing racks and bow-shaped dressing room hooks since its soft opening on Feb. 8. The store, located at 3115 Government St., features a variety of pieces from brightly colored high heels to vintage Disney shirts.
The thrift shop was founded by Haley Miller, an LSU alumna. Miller graduated in 2019 and subsequently began selling thrifted pieces through an Instagram account in 2020. After realizing this side hustle could become a functioning business, she fully dedicated herself to her passion for vintage items in 2023.
“I loved finding unique, beautiful things that told a story, whether an old sweatshirt with someone’s name written on the tag or vintage glassware that elevated any party they were at,” Miller said.
Miller works full-time while single-handedly managing Good Choices Co. Each piece of clothing in the store is hand-picked to ensure plenty of stylish options for its customers. Miller finds these pieces from different locations all around Baton Rouge, whether it be from estate sales or even other thrift stores.

“We want to have options for everyone, no matter their style or size,” Miller said. “So we do our best to source wherever we can and often.”
Shopping at Good Choices Co. feels like hanging out among friends. Lively chatter and music fills the air, as customers encourage each other to choose the most stylish pieces. Miller herself is often lending a hand to help find the perfect, thrifted fit for her customers.
Good Choices Co. did pop-up shops in various areas around Baton Rouge in previous years; however, Miller opened a storefront in hopes of building a stronger community. She plans to do exactly that by featuring local creators and creating seasonal-specific collections for customers to enjoy.
“With the storefront, we’ve created a space that hopefully feels more like a community hub allowing for more personal interactions,” Miller said. “It’s also given us the chance to fine-tune the shopping experience and showcase a broader range of items.”
Promoting thoughtful consumption is a core value for Miller and her business, as demonstrated in Good Choices Co.’s philosophy of “curated sustainable fashion.” The business even collaborates with other sustainable and local businesses throughout Baton Rouge.
“Sustainability is recognizing the power of our choices and wanting to make responsible ones for the good of both people and planet,” Miller said.
One of Good Choices Co.’s current local partners is Deep South Gypsies, a small business specializing in handmade jewelry. The sale of these handcrafted bracelets and earrings in Miller’s store aligns with her goal to promote sustainability at Good Choices Co.
Fostering awareness about fast fashion’s environmental impact is essential for Miller. She believes that having stylish, yet eco-friendly alternatives to fast fashion is crucial in creating change in today’s world.
“Our choices might seem small on their own, but collectively, we create a ripple effect that can change the way fashion works,” Miller said.
