The LSU Men’s Basketball Team faced the No. 5 Tennessee Volunteers, in the last stretch of the regular season. Coming from a tough loss against #2 Florida, the Tigers were looking to look better against a Final Four contender.
The Volunteers came into this game as the fourth best scoring defense in the country, only allowing 60.8 points per game. Important to highlight that they’re offensive isn’t inside 50 best in scoring offense.
LSU competed, specially defensively, where the team limited the Volunteers to only 26 points in the first half, only 3 more than the Tigers.
Lead by rookie Vyctorius Miller, that scored 17 points,
They key too, losing the game for the Tigers, was missing field goals. Only scoring 21 of 51, leaving a lot of points in the paint. Facing one-on-one situations against such a great defense was not the plan for the Tigers. They couldn’t make key plays when needed.
At the beginning of the second half, Tennessee started drifting away, having a lead between 8–11 points throughout the half. It wasn’t until the last minutes of the game where LSU started to catch up. The inability of the Tigers to score fast, finished up, taking their chances of actually being able to win it.
The game finished 65-59 in favor of Tennessee, after Florida lost earlier against Georgia.
LSU will play three more SEC games against Mississippi State, Kentucky and Texas A&M before the SEC Tournament.
