A United States, Louisiana and LSU flag flutters in the breeze Monday, Feb. 6, 2023 on the Parade Grounds.
LSU freshman pole vaulter Dillon Reidenauer was one of two who died in an on-campus traffic accident late Wednesday evening.
The crash, involving a car and a motorcycle, happened around 9 p.m. CT on the corner of Nicholson Drive and South Quad Drive.
According to WAFB, dashcam footage from a witnessing vehicle showed both vehicles burst into flames after the collision.
The accident occurred as the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Nicholson Drive. Reidenauer’s Honda Accord was traveling Southbound, taking a left turn onto South Quad Drive, when the motorcycle hit her car.
The driver of the motorcycle was identified as 23-year-old Bohdi Linton. Linton’s mother, Juanita Linton, was killed in a motorcycle accident last year on I-10 East.
“LSU Athletics is heartbroken to share the tragic news of the passing of freshman track and field student-athlete Dillon Reidenauer in a traffic incident Wednesday evening in Baton Rouge,” the university’s athletic department said in a statement on Thursday. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Dillon’s family, friends and teammates, as well as with those impacted by the loss of another individual who died as a result of the incident. We are providing resources and support to all of our student-athletes and staff directly impacted by this tragic loss.”
