In NFL news, the New Orleans Saints are set to hire former LSU defensive line coach Bo Davis.
Davis spent a year coaching under Brian Kelly at L-S-U and also previously coached at Alabama and texas. He is the third coach the Saints have added this week.
With Mardi Gras festivities kicking off this weekend, many will flock to New Orleans for the celebrations. However, several LSU sports teams, including LSU Gymnastics, will be too busy to join in the fun.
Speaking of celebrations, few things compare to the passion and energy LSU fans bring to gymnastics meets at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center (PMAC).
This season, the Tigers have averaged a score of 197.725 at home, compared to 197.187 in away meets.
Gymnast Kylie Coen acknowledges the impact of fan support, saying, “It just feels like the fans pour in exactly where they need to, like for our energy.”
A meet at the PMAC is more than just a sporting event—it’s an experience. With music, fire, and top-tier performances, it creates an electric atmosphere.
Head Coach Jay Clark expressed his gratitude to the fans, stating, “My message is thank you. The way that place presents on television, and the enthusiasm that just comes oozing out of the TV when you can hear it and see it—it’s special, it’s different, it’s unique. There’s nothing like it.”
This Friday LSU Gymnastics will take on George Washington in the Podium Challenge at the Raising Cane’s River Center.
While they won’t be competing at the PMAC, they hope tiger fans will still show up in full force to support them.
Meanwhile, the LSU softball team is spending their Mardi Gras weekend in Fullerton, California, continuing their dominant start to the season.
The No. 6 Tigers took down No. 4 UCLA in a thrilling 2-1 victory at the Judi Garman Classic, improving their record to a perfect 15-0.
While LSU’s offense has been explosive this season—with 134 hits and 192 RBIs—pitching made the difference in today’s game.
Sydney Berzon delivered a stellar performance, striking out four batters and holding the Bruins to a .217 batting average.
The Tigers will face unranked Cal State Fullerton tonight at 7 PM before taking on Utah, Notre Dame, and Weber State later in the weekend.
