Head Coach Jay Clark spoke to the media following the Tigers’ win against George Washington University, earning their highest score all season. The win comes one week after No. 2 LSU beat No. 9 Kentucky on the road.
Kylie Coen performed her first floor routine in the matchup against the Washington Revolutionaries. The Tigers also showcased a few exhibitions, including an uneven bar routine from Tori Tatum and a beam routine from Amari Drayton.
“When you’re having to make changes late year and make tough decisions, it’s always good to see your team rally around each other and step up the way they did tonight. I thought it was fantastic, and it checked the box in every way for tonight,” Clark said.
Coach Clark alludes to the importance of the team consistently scoring high so that they can perform well during the SEC Championships, which begins March 22.
“While it’s still important to get on the road and have great scoring… what’s more important is what’s coming up in the coming weeks,” Clark said.
Even with the Tigers showcasing new routines and making major changes, their work ethic and talent persevered through, earning them the dub.
“It was by far our most complete performance of the year, and I think, really, the score indicated that,” Clark said.
The Tigers’ final score of 198.125 is the exact confidence boost they need to carry them into their next match in the PMAC against Georgia on March 7.
“We caught the momentum, and we never let it go,” Clark said.
