LSU women’s basketball will be without Flau’jae Johnson for the SEC Tournament, according to LSU Radio.
Johnson missed Sunday’s regular season finale and was seen wearing a boot on her right foot. She is suffering shin inflammation, and will not play in the SEC Tournament to assure she is healthy for the NCAA Tournament.
“I don’t think Flau’jae’s best basketball has happened in the last couple of weeks, so let’s rest her,” Mulkey said on LSU Radio. “It’s just not worth it.”
Johnson leads the team with 18.9 points per game, shooting 46.5% from the field and 37.2% from three. She also averages 5.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.6 points per game.
LSU will play its first game of the SEC Tournament on Friday, March 7, from Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.
The Tigers will have a double-bye in the tournament, and they’ll have to win two games to reach the SEC Tournament Championship.
LSU will officially be the No. 3 seed in the SEC Tournament behind Texas and South Carolina, which would give it a 7:30 p.m. tip-off on Friday, televised on the SEC Network.
