LSU Women’s Basketball dropped their second straight game in the Sunday loss to the Ole Miss Rebels during Senior Day.
The Tigers have now dropped three of their last five games, and will move into the SEC tournament which kicks off on March 5th.
The team was at a deficit with star guard Flau’Jae Johnson dealing with a minor shin injury that sidelined her and will continue to do so through the SEC tournament.
“She has tried her hardest and put her heart out there,” said Coach Mulkey when talking about the decision to sit Johnson. “I decided after Alabama, we’re a three seed no matter if we win another ball game, so why not do it now:”
The Rebels defied all odds and dominated the Tigers down the stretch and forced turnovers and took advantage.
“There were three things you needed to do…keep them out of the paint they were averaging 34 points and they got 38 against us, second thing you needed to do was take care of the ball, their points off turnovers, they were averaging 26 and they got 27, lastly offensive boards we competed with them and then we didn’t compete with them…”
Though the Tigers had a rough regular season outing, the team has the chance to be back in the PMAC to host an NCAA playoff game after the SEC Tournament.
