LSU Baseball defeated North Dakota State University in an intense, three hours and forty-five minute game.
The Bisons started strong, scoring three runs in the first inning. By the third inning, LSU pitcher Conner Ware had allowed five runs. NDSU, had the momentum and were showing off, having their best game of the season after a 1-9 start to their season, against #2 LSU. In that same top of the third inning, LSU switched pitchers, putting Jaden Noot, in the diamond. He quickly allowed two more runs to put the game 7-1.
Fans in the stands remembered the second game of the series against Omaha, a couple of weeks prior to this game, where LSU lost to Omaha, making unnecessary errors, in both offense and defense.
By the bottom of the third, the Tigers reappeared in the game, as Jones, Dickinson, Arrambide and Brown scored runs to get back at it with a 7-5 score.
In the fourth inning, both teams would score two runs to put the score 9-7 at the top of the fifth inning. NDSU runs came in after missed throws by pitcher DJ Primeaux, who had a game to forget.
Things would get interesting in the bottom of the sixth, as Curiel and Jones would get home safe to tie the game.
Tense atmosphere in the seventh, but no teams scored. By the bottom of the eight, LSU’s Steve Milam doubled down to the RF line creating the opportunity for Dickinson and Jones to score their third run of the game.
Pitcher Casan Evans, finished the game striking out three Bisons in a row.
With this win LSU improves their record to 12-1. North Dakota State dropped to a 1-10.
The teams will meet again at 6:30 p.m. CT Wednesday in Alex Box Stadium
