LSU Gymnastics reigned supreme against the Georgia Bulldogs in the PMAC for their senior night. They would beat the Bulldogs 198.575 to 197.175 setting a new program record and putting up the highest score in the country.
The Tigers would go through their first rotation at vault, putting up a score of 49.600 where vault standouts Senior Aleah Finnegan, Sophomore Amari Drayton and Freshmen Kailin Chio ended with a score of 9.950.
The Tigers would go through their second rotation at bars where sophomore Konnor McClain would shine and score the highest for the team, executing a 9.975. Chio and 5th year Senior Haleigh Bryant both scored a 9.925.
Going into the second half, the Tigers lead with a score of 99.225 while the Bulldogs trail behind with a score of 98.475.
The Tigers would go through their third rotation at beam where both Bryant and Chio would score a 9.950. Finnegan would close out earning herself and the team’s first perfect 10 of the season. This would be her 10th perfect 10 out of her collegiate career.
The final rotation would be the floor exercise where Chio received a perfect score from one judge, but averaged to a 9.975. Bryant would close out the night with a score of 9.975 leading her team to the highest score in the country.
With Chio’s final score, she would break the record for the all-around made by any freshmen.
Overall, Coach Jay Clark is proud of the quality of the performance and calls it a championship performance that’s worthy of the 198.575.
LSU Gymnastics will be on the road traveling to Alabama where they will take on Auburn Friday, March 14 at 7 p.m.
