LSU women’s basketball’s Aneesah Morrow was named to the All-SEC Tournament team following two games of action over the weekend.
Morrow shined in the Tigers’ first game against Florida, setting an LSU SEC Tournament single-game record with 36 points while shooting 15-for-21 (71.2%) from the field. She also recorded 14 rebounds to tally her 27th double-double this season and 101st of her career.
Morrow exited the matchup versus No. 1 Texas early in the third quarter due to a lower leg injury. Tigers head coach Kim Mulkey later confirmed the injury was a mid-foot sprain that she re-aggravated.
“She can go for the [NCAA] tournament,” Mulkey said after the loss. “She was ready to come back out there, and the doctors said, ‘Why would you go out there?'”
Morrow had tallied 10 points and two rebounds before her exit versus Texas. She also struggled to knock down shots, shooting just 5-for-11 (45.5%) from the field.
LSU struggled without Morrow and Johnson, and Texas shut down their depleted effort. The Tigers were ultimately knocked out of the tournament with a 56-49 loss to the Longhorns.
The Tigers now look forward to the NCAA tournament later this month and wait for their seed in the NCAA Tournament. They hope to receive home court for the first and second rounds.
