March is notably known as Women’s History Month, with the national celebration officially being passed in Congress in 1981.
The law requested that the President would proclaim the week of March 7 as “Women’s History Week”. After five years of petitioning from the National Women’s History Project, the holiday would be celebrated for the entire month of March beginning in 1987. This month-long celebration of women would be used each year to celebrate the contributions of women all over the United States.
