The No. 4 ranked LSU Tigers took on the UL Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns in this in-state rivalry matchup and handled business. The Tigers defeated ULL 14-0 in a five-inning run rule blowout.
LSU set the tone early scoring six runs in the first inning. Leadoff hitter and 3rd baseman Danieca Coffey was walked to start the game, extending her on base streak to 35 games. Later in the game she added a two-run double to add on to LSU’s lead.
Freshman pitcher Jayden Heavner threw a complete game shutout, allowing only one hit and four walks. She ended the night with six strikeouts as well. This was Heavner’s 4th shutout of the season.
ULL pitcher Bethany Noble lasted a third of an inning, giving up four runs before she was pulled from the game. The LSU Tigers had 11 hits on the evening, making this their 14th double-digit game of the season.
