Students were surprised Wednesday night after LSU sent out an email announcing an increase in tuition.
All students will see their student success fee be raised by $11.90 per credit hour. Students in University College as well as students in higher cost degrees or “tier two programs” will experience an additional $8 per credit hour.
The new fees will raise tuition for tier one students by a maximum of $178.50 while tier two and University College students will see a maximum tuition raise of $298.50.
“The way I pay for college is through grants and scholarships,” LSU student Kailey Landry said. “Every dollar counts for rent and food I used outside of those grants. The extra $300 could be half of my rent for a month so it makes me a little bit more cautious on what I’m spending my money on.”
Students are encouraged to contact the Bursar’s office for more information on tuition and fees.
