The Tigers continue to dominate their non-conference opponents as the season carries on.
On Friday night, the number one ranked Tigers took down the North Alabama Lions 13-2 in seven innings. Pitcher Kade Anderson shined in tonight’s matchup, pitching a season-high of 6 innings, forcing 11 strikeouts and allowing 4 hits in tonight’s outing. Anderson’s performance was a strong sign for the Tigers as he is heating up before SEC play.
Aside from their pitching, LSU’s offense continues to impress the purple and gold faithful. They put up 13 hits at bat tonight and looked unstoppable once again. However, after the first two innings, the score remained 0-0, but they caught fire in the 3rd inning, scoring 5 runs to kickstart their dominant night. And before you can blink, the Tigers kept on putting runs on the board and forced the game to end early after a run rule was called.
The main prize of the evening came not from their main star-studded players, but from the performances of Tanner Reaves, Josh and John Pearson, as they made a significant impact in tonight’s blowout. Reaves started tonight and recorded 3 RBI’s, his most with the team. Josh Pearson scored 2 runs and also had an RBI to go along with his statline, while his younger brother, John, put up his first career home run and had 3 RBI’s. The depth of this team is very critical to their success as they continue to win games from everyone chipping in.
The team improves to 14-1 and will look to sweep the season series and advance to their first SEC matchup in a week, the Missouri Tigers.
LSU will play North Alabama again on Saturday at noon CT, due to a weather forecast calling for inclement weather in the late afternoon.
