Baton Rouge’s beloved St. Patrick’s Day parade, the 40th annual Wearin’ of The Green Parade is this weekend.
The Wearin’ of The Green Parade is a mixed event. If you prefer a more family-friendly environment, stick to the neighborhood side of the parade. If you’re more adventurous and want a second taste of Mardi Gras, make your way to the Perkins Road side of the route.
Parade floats will roll at noon on Sunday. The parade was rescheduled from its normal 10 a.m. Saturday start time.
The parade route begins at South Acadian Thruway and Hundred Oaks Avenue, proceeds to wrap through the Garden District, and ends at Perkins Road and Stanford Avenue.

For those wanting to go to the parade, the neighborhood area is great if you have a party to attend. If you aren’t going to a specific party, bathroom, food and drink options will line the parade route down Perkins Road.
The earlier you arrive the easier it will be to find parking. Free and paid parking will be available in the neighborhoods, but the road access to these areas normally gets cut off two hours before the parade runs. While street parking is a rarity, make sure you follow parking laws and be courteous of people’s homes.
Parking lots will be available throughout Perkins Road. You may find parking at City Park, the underpass on Perkins Road and the lot home to Trader Joe’s.
