Kim Mulkey and the LSU Women’s Basketball team rallied in the PMAC on Sunday evening as ESPN announced their No. 3 seeding ahead of the 2025 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.
“We’re playing at home,” Mulkey said. “Doesn’t guarantee you any victories but it sure is good not to have to pack this weekend.”
The Tigers will host No. 14 San Diego State in Baton Rouge on Saturday, March 22. San Diego State finished fourth in the Mountain West Conference with teams like UNLV, Colorado State and Boise State among their competition.
“It’s like excitement in the air,” Mulkey said. “I mean just look at our fans out there, excited.”
With the Tigers earning the opportunity to host their first game at home, the ‘PMAC magic’ is expected. Standout forward Aneesah Morrow will have to continue to step up and make big plays for the Tigers heading into a competitive NCAA tournament despite her recent injuries.
“Everybody realizes you lose, you go home,” Mulkey said.
Late in the regular season the Tigers struggled to win games against top ranked opponents like Texas and South Carolina and ended their regular season with a SEC Tournament loss to the Longhorns.
“There were a couple of those games that we fell short, but I don’t change my mind,” Mulkey said. “I made the right decision to sit Flau’Jae.”
With both Flau’Jae Johnson and Morrow back in the line up, the LSU Tigers will look to make a deep tournament run that ends in another National Championship banner in the rafters of the PMAC.
