At a university where nearly every athletic program is nationally relevant, there’s never a shortage of options. There are always electric playmakers to be found.
The Reveille Athlete of the Week is LSU baseball’s Jake Brown.
Brown delivered a standout performance in the Tigers’ three-game series against the Missouri Tigers on March 16 at the Box. In the bottom of the first inning, Brown went up to bat with two outs and hit his first home run of the 2025 season, breaking open the score, 4-0.
This pivotal moment energized not only the team but the packed stadium, contributing to the LSU 10-5 victory over Missouri.
In his freshman season in 2024, Brown appeared in 56 games, starting in 21 of those games. He posted a .264 batting average, with four doubles, four home runs and 13 RBIs. Notably, he excelled in postseason play, batting .268, including a solo home run in the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional championship game.
His sophomore year has seen continued development. So far this season, Brown is batting .393 with an on-base percentage of .431, showing his improved plate discipline and consistent contact.
Perfect Game ranked Brown No. 54 among the top 100 Sophomores for the 2025 season, recognizing the potential he brings to the table.
Jake Brown’s standout performance against Missouri and continued consistency exemplify his impact on the LSU baseball program. As the season continues, his contributions in the outfield and in the batter’s box will be key as the Tigers take on SEC opponents.
