From the Catholic Life Center driveway to Perkins Road, “The Wearin of Green” Parade rolled through the streets of Baton Rouge for the 40th year in a row.
Over 100 people gathered to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and its traditions, Baton Rouge-style. The parade featured a blend of Mardi Gras customs, including throwing trinkets and beads, alongside the city& signature green-themed festivities.
The history of the parade runs deep, with the first “Wearin of Green” celebration held on March 15, 1986. Sunday’s parade carried on the tradition of warm weather and high spirits, with bright skies welcoming luck.
“We are so excited to be here today. This is one of the best days in Baton Rouge. All of us are here together to have a great time, spread cheer, and just have a blast” said the head of the Williamson Eye Center float.
The parade had fun for all, with food vendors, games, and plenty of music for families and friends. The annual celebration continues to grow, drawing more visitors each year and adding to the city’s rich cultural tapestry.
