LSU women’s basketball is set to host first- and second-rounds of the NCAA Tournament in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, and head coach Kim Mulkey bought every LSU student ticket to ensure a packed crowd.
In a statement released on X, Mulkey highlighted the women’s basketball team’s success in the last four years and how they rely on loud, sold-out crowds to bring the energy. After leading her team to hosting in the NCAA Tournament every year that she’s been the head coach, Mulkey decided to give back to the students.
“Your energy in the PMAC has been unmatched all season long and we need you to be our 6th Man during these playoff games,” Mulkey said in an LSU women’s basketball post on X. “I am pleased to be able to purchase the student tickets for these games in the PMAC. All we need is for you to show up, be loud and help propel us to victory!”
The Tigers head into the tournament with a 28-5 overall record and a No. 3 seed, which is a seeding that Mulkey said has treated them well in past tournaments.
LSU will kick off its NCAA Tournament run on Saturday with a 9:15 p.m. start time against No. 14 seed San Diego State University. Whichever team wins will advance to the second round against the winner of No. 6 seed Florida State University versus No. 11 seed George Mason University.
