BATON ROUGE — As mid-semester stress builds, LSU’s Student Health Center hosted Tiger Wellness Week from March 17-21, giving students a chance to refocus on their physical and mental well-being.
The week featured a mix of activities, from high-energy UREC fitness classes to a campus-wide blood drive and mental health small group sessions.
One of the more unique events, “Planting Positivity,” let students decorate flower pots and take home succulents as a reminder to nurture their personal growth.
Lori Anderson, a licensed prevention professional with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, said visibility is key when it comes to wellness.
“When you make people aware, you advertise it, and have it out in the open, it’s not only saying, ‘hey, we care,’ but also, ‘you’re not the only person dealing with something,’” Anderson said.
The Student Health Center provides year-round services, including mental health counseling, nutrition guidance, and medical care.
LSU UREC also offers group fitness classes and wellness programs to encourage an active lifestyle.
For students looking to keep up the momentum after Tiger Wellness Week, resources are always available through the Student Health Center and UREC. Appointments can be scheduled online, and walk-in consultations are available on campus.
