After a tough weekend, LSU baseball is hoping to make a comeback. Their performance Tuesday was a step in the right direction.
LSU defeated ULL at home in Alex Box Stadium with a final score of 17-4.
The Tigers started the game off strong, scoring 9 runs in the first inning. Cade Arrambride scored a 2 run homer and Jared Jones hit a grand slam.Daniel Dickinson also scored an RBI double, and Ethan Frey hit a two-run double.
The grand slam was the second of Jone’s career, and he is now No. 7 on LSU’s all-time homers list with 51 career dingers.
Jones says, “it’s awesome to see it come to for wishing for me and obviously it’s great to help my team in any way possible.”
LSU’s pitching staff made a comeback after their loss against Texas last weekend thanks to the help of right-hander Jaden Noot. Noot pitched the first three innings and held the Cajuns to one run on five hits with no walks and struck out two.
Coach Johnson says, “He’s a good pitcher. Nice luxury to have…he was efficient, so doing that in 42 pitches is great.”
Meanwhile, UL Lafayette pitcher Andrew Hermann took the loss after allowing eight runs on five hits in just two-thirds of an inning, with two walks and one strikeout.
The game came to a close after the 7th inning due to the 10 run rule.
LSU hopes to use this victory as a starting point for building a new winning streak. The Tigers play Mississippi State at 7pm on Thursday in Alex Box Stadium.
