Simone Biles was calling Baton Rouge on Tuesday, making several campus appearances after LSU gymnastics slammed the SEC Championships shut with a 198.200 victory.
The gymnast’s unexpected trip to LSU was first noticed as she posted an Instagram story in a car on the Horace Wilkinson Bridge.
The 11-time Olympic medalist was later seen on LSU gymnastics’ social media accounts, posing with the team.
Yes, LSU is the newly named No. 1 team in the country and, yes, Biles is a world-renowned gymnast of her own kind, but neither of those factors specify as to why exactly the nine-time all around U.S. champion was here in Baton Rouge.
Well, the answer lies within one of the Tigers’ freshmen, all-arounder Zoe Miller.
Participant of the 2023 Pan American Games and uneven bars champion, Miller is one of LSU’s well-decorated gymnasts, despite her lack of competition during her first collegiate season.
Being from Spring, Texas, the 2023 Winter Cup uneven bars champion has a close relationship with Biles.
Miller, a three-time national team member, trains in Biles at the World Champions Centre, a gym owned by Biles’ parents, Nellie and Ron Biles.
While Biles’ attempt to surprise Miller was spoiled since the LSU gymnast checked the Olympian’s location on her way to Baton Rouge, as disclosed in another Instagram story post from Biles, the two were seen at Alex Box Stadium for the LSU versus UL-Lafayette baseball game.
The Tigers went home with a 17-4 win and the gymnasts went home posing in matching LSU sweatshirts in an Instagram post uploaded by Miller.
“Best surprise visit ever!” Miller captioned her post.
Biles was accompanied by her husband, Chicago Bears safety Johnathan Owens, who was seen in an Instagram post made by Miller’s boyfriend – LSU baseball infielder Michael Braswell III.
In the photo uploaded to Braswell’s Instagram, he is holding Miller after LSU’s win, with a caption acknowledging Miller, Owens and Biles.
“With the greatest gymnast ever . . . and Simone and Johnathan,” the caption read.
Biles has made several uploads to her Instagram story following her initial arrival in Baton Rouge, each one encompassing her on different locations around the city as she celebrates Miller and her team’s recent victories.
Whether Biles is still in Louisiana is unknown, but her unexpected visit to Miller was a surprise for all gymnastics fans alike.
