LSU Softball pitcher and utilities freshman Jayden Heavener took questions from the press on March 26th ahead of their conference matchup against the 11th ranked South Carolina Gamecocks.
The freshman pitched 6.0 innings and allowed 2 runs on 2 hits on March 21st against the Georgia Bulldogs, the team’s first road conference matchup.
“I started off with a pretty good start. I definitely had some learning experiences,” Heavener said. “I feel like working everyday in the bullpen, I learn something new. I feel like I have grown a lot since the fall, and I’m prepared to learn more as the season goes on.”
Jayden Heavener continues to impress the purple and gold faithful with her string of performance. She talks about how she and the team prepares for their next series matchup against a hot South Carolina team.
“We gotta trust the process, and we play LSU Softball,” Heavener said. “We are gonna get the runs on the board, and for me as a pitcher, do what I can for us to get the win.”
Heavener was placed into Tuesday’s weekday matchup at Louisiana-Lafayette to close out the game. She reminds the press that her mentality does not change, even if she is called upon at unexpected moments.
“Whenever I’m needed, beginning, middle, or end, I am ready to go. I am always in the same mindset at all points of the game, especially in the end.”
The team takes on the South Carolina Gamecocks on Friday March, 28th at Tiger Park at 5 PM.
