No. 5 ranked LSU Baseball had a comeback game back and beat Mississippi State 8-6 in the opening of the SEC series Thursday night in Alex Box Stadium.
Their overall record is now 23-4 and in SEC 5-2, after losing two games to the Longhorns.
LSU is coming off a victory against the Ragin’ Cajuns. The Tigers started off slow this game, but came back stronger in later innings.
Pitcher Kade Anderson did his thing tonight before he called it a night at the top of the fifth inning with six hits, five earned runs, two walks and five strikeouts.
The atmosphere was tense as the Bulldogs were on top for a while, putting something on the board every inning before the fifth inning. While the Tiger struck out quickly, there was a shift in gears at the bottom of the fifth as LSU had five runs.
Pitcher Connor Benge secured the win after taking Anderson’s place after the fifth inning, with two walks and one hit.
There’s no time for breaks, as the Tigers take on the Bulldogs again Friday, March 28, at 6:30 p.m. in the Alex Box Stadium.
