Wednesday afternoon it was announced that LSU Women’s Basketball Guard, Last-Tear Poa, will be entering the transfer portal following Redshirt Sophomore, Sa’Myah Smith. Poa is entering her fifth year, and was on the roster in 2023 when the Lady Tigers won their first National Championship.
Poa entered LSU during her sophomore year, aftering playing for a JUCO at Northwest Florida State. She took her team to their first NJCAA National Championship, where she won NJCAA Tournament MVP. During her first season with the Tigers, she made a huge impact when she made it off the bench.
She played in all of LSU’s 36 games, where she started in two. She led the team in shooting (87.9%) from the free throw line. Made two three pointers during the National Championship, which gave the Tigers the lead in the 2nd quarter against Iowa.
During her Junior season, she played primarily off the bench, but only started in 10 games. She averaged 4.9 points and 3.0 assists per game. Had a career high of scoring 14 points during the LSU win over Auburn in the SEC Tournament. She also had a career-high of 8 assists with zero turnovers in LSU’s win over Coppin State.
In her senior season with LSU, Poa made a total of 59 points, made a total of 30 free-throws with 41 free-throw attempts and made seven offensive rebounds and 22 defensive rebounds for a total of 29 rebounds.
