It’s no secret that LSU campus tours are long and often held in the sweltering Louisiana heat—but what may be more concerning is what they leave out. Many current students feel that crucial information is missing, information they wish they had known before committing to the university.
To dig deeper, Mila Fair and Casidey Trepagnier -MC101 – took to the LSU Student Union to ask students about what they wished had been included in the tour experience.
From limited dining hall options and access to mental health resources to the housing application process and campus diversity, students didn’t hold back.
“I wish they told me that they needed more counselors and academic advisors,” one student said. “It’s honestly way too difficult to meet with someone when you really need to.”And students weren’t the only ones with strong opinions—Mila and Casidey shared their thoughts on some hot takes that sparked debate.
Casidey’s opinion? Dress codes should be stricter in academic settings.
“I don’t think short skirts, crop tops, short shorts, or even pajamas should be allowed in academic environments,” Casidey said. She believes the attire can be distracting and encourages students to remember “When you look good, you feel good.”
Mila respectfully disagreed. “If you choose to wear pajamas, that may just be how you choose to walk into the workplace,” she said, challenging traditional views of professionalism.
Another hot topic was scooter usage on campus. Mila raised concerns about safety hazards and how scooters interfere with foot traffic. Casidey—a frequent scooter rider—partially agreed.
“There should be more rules and regulations on scooters for both the riders and pedestrians,” she said.
From overlooked campus realities to fiery fashion debates, it’s clear that every Tiger’s experience is different—and students want their voices to be part of the conversation.
