Kyren Lacy was a Thibodaux, Louisiana native, a recent LSU graduate, and a former stand-out Wide Receiver for the LSU Football team.
Lacy died on April 13, 2025 after an apparent suicide according to Houston, Texas officials.
“I think that just the dance moves and everything, I thought that it was a very great way to get the crowd going and get the crowd excited,” LSU Football Fan Joshua Jones said.
After Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. headed to the NFL in 2024, it was Lacy’s time to shine as a Tiger.
“My favorite memory of his was the game against Ole Miss, he got the winning touchdown,” LSU Football Fan and Student Armand Duplantier said. “We went back and forth that whole game, but I mean the whole team showed fight and he really characterized that.”
Lacy also caught Jayden Daniels’ final touchdown pass of his collegiate career.
“He made his brothers proud,” LSU Freshman Andre Lewis said. “Now they are about to live his dream through them.”
Lacy finished his career at LSU with more than 1,500 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns. Life is not all about statistics. It is also about how you make people feel.
“When he caught the touchdown pass I was right in the front row and everyone started barreling down,” LSU Student Fiona Defalco said about fans rushing the field after LSU defeated Ole Miss. “I could not really stay in my seat; I had to get up and rush the field because it was so exciting.”
“It was the best feeling ever when we won,” LSU Freshman Laynie Courville said. “It was like a feeling of relief.”
These students did not know Kyren Lacy personally. They do know that he had the power to make over 100,000 people smile, cheer and celebrate on a Louisiana Saturday night.
