One of LSU UREC’s most popular fitness classes isn’t just going viral on TikTok—it’s taking campus by storm. It’s called Turn Up Dance, and it’s not your average workout.
Every Monday and Wednesday at 7 p.m., students pack into a UREC studio room for a high-energy class led by Cochea Long wife of LSU Assistant Basketball Coach Casey Long. The vibe of the class? More of a dance party than a gym session.
“It should feel like a party,” said Cochea. “That’s my number one rule in this class—have fun! Leave your stress at the door.”
Turn Up Dance blends cardio and choreography into an empowering workout that has built a loyal following—on campus and online. Clips from the class have gone viral on TikTok, with students returning week after week for the sweat, the music, and Cochea’s contagious energy.
One of her signature sayings? “When in doubt, twerk it out.”
“Dance is so underestimated as a workout,” one student told us. “This class is really fun, so come to this class!”
Turn Up Dance is free for LSU students with a UREC membership, but fair warning—it fills up fast. If you’re looking for a fun way to get moving, build confidence, and maybe even go viral, this class is for you.
