The LSU Tigers beat the Tennessee Volunteers in an intense weekend series, going into Sunday’s game they were tied in the series and left it all out on the field to determine the winner. The final score was 12-2 with the Tigers taking the win.
LSU got their bats swinging early with the leading batter, Derek Curiel, hitting a home run in the first at bat for the Tigers, setting the tone early that they did not come to play around.
Curiel was not the only one for the purple and gold that was hitting dingers, Jake Brown and Michael Braswell III also made a comeback hitting their own home runs. Luis Hernandez hit his own homerun that allowed the Tigers a ten run rule.
Offense wasn’t the only thing the Tigers were bringing to the plate, they also had a heated pitching line up with freshman Casan Evans pitching six innings, allowing six hits, two runs and six strikeouts.
Stepping in for Casan after the sixth inning was Zac Cowan who shut the Volunteers out in two innings only allowing one hit, zero runs and two strikeouts.
The Tigers are set to take on Texas A&M in their next SEC matchup weekend series, but are looking to battle Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
