LSU hosted the Chicago Sky and Brazil National Team on Friday night in the PMAC, where former LSU Women’s Basketball players Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith celebrated their homecoming.
While Reese and Van Lith departed from the Tigers in different fashions, the respect LSU fans have for them both proved to be undeniable.
From the moment Reese stepped on the court, the Purple and Gold Faithful could be heard from all across the arena. Reese finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds before heading to the bench to cheer on her teammates.
Fans began chanting “Angel Reese,” with hopes of seeing her play a few minutes more, but those chants quickly turned into loud cheer as Hailey Van Lith subbed in for the Sky in her WNBA debut.
Van Lith was drafted by the Chicago Sky as the No. 11 overall pick after completing her collegiate career at TCU.
Van Lith showed off her skill set and point guard IQ finishing the game with seven points, five assists and three rebounds.
While Reese and Van Lith were the only former LSU players returning back to their stomping grounds between the two teams, Chicago Sky center Kamilla Cardoso was also embracing a special moment as she competed against her country’s national team.
