Arkansas defeated LSU 7-4 on Sunday afternoon. LSU takes the series 2-1 as they continue their strong finish to the season.
Coach Johnson has been asking more out of Freshman Pitcher Casan Evans as of late and Johnson likes the progress he is seeing from his young star.
Evans has had a very tough start to his starting career. He’s had three starts and they have been against Tennessee, Texas A&M and Arkansas.
“That’s a pretty, pretty tall ask of Coach Johson of that young man,” Coach Johnson. “If there’s any pitcher I’ve had at that age that was ready for it, it was him. And I think he’ll have unbelievable value, from starting it out that way.”
Throughout the series Coach Johnson and his pitching staff did a great job at suppressing a great Arkansas offense. Johnson places a lot of that success on the relief effort.
“It really changes the dynamic of our team when a couple of guys throw the ball well,” Johnson said.
The Tigers will head up to South Carolina to take on the Gamecocks on Thursday, May 15, at 6 p.m. CT in what will be LSU’s final regular-season series.
