No. 10 LSU Softball played Southland winner Southeastern Louisiana on Friday and lost 4-3.
The lions strive to play aggressive ball, and they did just that. They came back from a 3-0 deficit and scored their game winning run in the top of the seventh.
LSU hit a ground-rule double, allowing Avery Hodge to score the first run of the game. In the bottom of the third LSU tacked on another run after Jadyn Lanuex hit a single and McKenzie Redoutey advanced to home plate.
LSU would not keep the lead for long. In the top of the fourth Southeastern gained serious momentum and scored three runs. Their electric crowd undoubtedly aided their success in Tiger Park.
Brilee Broussard hit an RBI, then Breanna Fontenot and Colleen Kulivan scored unearned runs.
Going into the seventh inning the score was knotted up, 3-3. Southeastern’s Cydnee Schnieder hit the game winning RBI and Maria Detillier scored.
Next up, LSU will play the University of Connecticut at 2:30 P.M. The tigers are not out of the race yet, but their path to the top just got a lot more difficult.
