Southeastern Louisiana upset No. 10 LSU in game one of regional play. After the win, Head Coach Rick Fremin spoke to the media about his team.
Fremin was especially proud of his bayou natives like Maria Dillitier that scored the winning run for the lions.
He noted that his entire infield lives 30-45 minutes away from campus. He prides himself on having a local team, but he also has a great response on his appreciation for his out-of-state players.
“We say they’ve ate enough food and drank enough water down here that it’s in their blood as well,” Fremin said.
He believes his team filled with “bayou blood” is capable of winning the tournament, and he establishes that mindset in his players as well.
He said that the lions are there to win. They are more than just happy or grateful to be here. They came to Tiger Park to win.
With game one under their belt, Southeastern will play Nebraska Saturday at noon.
