LSU football rose to No. 3 in the Week 2 AP Poll rankings after defeating Clemson, which was, at the time, ranked No. 4.
LSU was previously ranked No. 9 but after beating Clemson, and the losses of No. 1 Texas, No. 6 Notre Dame and No. 8 Alabama all in Week 1, LSU’s ranking shot up six places.
LSU handled its business on the road against Clemson with a 17-10 victory. This win marked the first season opener victory since Joe Burrow led LSU to a 55-3 win over Georgia Southern in 2019.
This is LSU’s first time appearing in the top five since 2023 and its highest ranking since 2019.
The LSU defense shined, holding a highly touted Clemson offense to just 10 points. This was also its second time shutting out an AP Top-10 opponent in the second half on the road since 1950.
LSU now turns its sights to Louisiana Tech to start a three-game stretch at home. LSU and Louisiana Tech kick off at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday in Death Valley.
