Crosstown Southern University in Baton Rouge has lifted its campus lockdown as of about 12:40 p.m. and canceled classes on Thursday and Friday.

It initially went on lockdown after “receiving a potential threat to campus safety,” a university spokesperson said in an alert to press.

The university is instructing students who live off-campus and non-essential employees to stay away from campus. It will make accomodations for students who live on campus, both those accomodations haven’t been announced publicly.

Southern will provide more information when it’s available.

Several other HBCUs around the country have reportedly received threats to safety: Hampton University, Alabama State University, Bethune-Cookman University, Virginia State University, Clark Atlanta University, South Carolina State University and Spelman College.

Around a dozen schools around the country have received false shooter threats several times in the last few months, including some in the SEC like Arkansas and South Carolina.
