LSU and Texas A&M are facing off in Tiger Stadium in a do-or-die matchup for the Bayou Bengals. This is the biggest challenge yet for Brian Kelly’s team, as they take on the No. 3 Aggies, who remain undefeated and sit at the top of the SEC standings.
This game could be a historic one for Texas A&M, who are looking to earn their first victory in Death Valley since 1994.
LSU has to be better on offense. This team has struggled a lot in the red zone. Last week after Vanderbilt, they scored points on their first drive for the first time this season.
A key for this matchup will be how LSU’s offensive line takes care of pass protection, as they’ve been struggling. The Aggies bring in one of the best pass rush defenses in the nation, coming in as a top 10 team in sacks led by Taurean York, who is leading the SEC in sacks.
Garrett Nussmeier has to step it up as well. He has only won two out of seven games against ranked opponents, throwing for twelve touchdowns and nine interceptions. His numbers have gone down during this 2025 season, as he has been dealing with a torso injury.
This week, the Tigers’ defense will be tested by a strong rushing offense. The Aggies, led by Marcel Reed, average about 200 rushing yards per game. Texas A&M’s defense will also need to rise to the occasion after allowing 42 points and more than 500 yards last week against Arkansas.
This is not just a great opportunity for Texas A&M to make a big leap and show that they can’t get the job done, but it could potentially be one for LSU to prove to the college football world, that they aren’t over, and they will keep on fighting as they are still in contention for the College Football Playoff.
The game will kickoff at 6:30 p.m. on ABC.
