LSU Men’s Basketball defeated Alcorn State 107 to 81 on Tuesday night. It was not an easy win for the Tigers as the 0 and 5 Braves trailed by only six at the end of the first half.
A big second half and a 29 point showing from Mike Nwoko helped propel the Tigers to victory.
The Tigers looked like a completely different team coming out of the half. Reason for that was because of Coach Matt McMahon’s message to the team.
“We don’t have time for kinks,” Coach McMahon said. “We only get to play 32 games, that was my message, you know? And when you get your opportunity to put that LSU jersey on, you know theres got to be an energy to it.”
The main story of the game was the 29 points in only 19 minutes from LSU center Michael Nwoko. Since coming to LSU Nwoko has worked really hard to improve his game and it’s showing on the court.
“He’s worked really hard in the player development program,” Coach McMahon said. “You see him scoring jump hooks with either hand, and at the end of the day, he’s 6’10” 260. And I thought he’s using his physicality in a great fashion there.”
Next for the Tigers is the Omaha Mavericks on Friday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. CT inside the PMAC.
