LSU football had a tumultuous 2025 season, starting with the first season-opener win since 2019. LSU would later spiral out of control and fire Brian Kelly, leaving a team without a head coach and rapidly-fading playoff hopes.
LSU promised they would fill Kelly’s spot with the best man for the job, and they went and got their primary target and the biggest name available, Lane Kiffin.
Kiffin has always been good at hitting the portal heavy since he landed at Ole Miss in 2020, with 66% of the players on his 2025 roster coming to Ole Miss from the portal at some point in their career.
While players have been entering the portal for nearly two weeks now, the portal doesn’t officially open until January 2, and it will remain open through January 16.
